Battlestar repeat

In the event you want to get up to speed on what happened before next weekends Battlestar Galactica series starts (which I do not really recommend), you'll get your chance tomorrow on NBC.

Huh?

Oh that's right. Everyone owns everyone nowadays. NBC is the parent company for Skiffy. So catch the mini-series tomorrow night (Sat, Jan 8th) for three hours (wasn't it four originally?) and then watch the series (which I highly recommend) next Friday, Jan 14th.

  1. I'm planning to watch my fresh new DVD of the miniseries right before watching the new episodes on SciFi next Friday.

What didja expect? I'm a Galactica geek... I have the original series on DVD, I have a pic autographed by the original Boomer, all of the original novelizations including the "photostory" novelization of the pilot episode which proves that footage shown during the original 3hr premiere broadcast has still not been restored to home video, a Colonial Warrior's Handbook, blueprints of the spaceships used in the original series, several rare BG fan magazines that foldout into posters, original Viper and Cylon Raider toys, the symphonic soundtrack ON VINYL, the one and only calendar (for 1979) and a handful of ducats and Warrior's insignia.

The stuff I used to have but sold on eBay years ago were the Viper and Cylon Raider toys that still shot the little missiles, the 3" tall BG action figures, including the 2 different colored daggits (but I never got my hands on the gold Cylon commander).

I also have a Revell model of the Cylon Basestar that I tried to sell on eBay (unassembled, all pieces, beat up but original 1979 box), but no one wanted it... not even for $5.

Hee... seems to be a bit much, but it pales in comparison to the stuff I collected for Miami Vice. And I have an affiliation with the upcoming Miami Vice Season 1 DVD set... you could say I lent a helping hand.

  2. OK. I surrender. Summer is a way huger geek than Mike and I ever will be. I respectfully turn my microphone over to you...

  3. Possible, but the jury may still be out. I'm a big geek when it comes to spec fic tv, and slightly less so when it comes to movies and books.

You guys are way more into video gaming than I am (I'm still on an PSone, playing Soul Blade), but I still have a soft spot in my heart for the comics I used to collect, long ago (that are also now long gone to new homes).

  4. Oh, and the other shows that I used to collect lots of stuff for were Babylon 5, Highlander and Xena.

Scary lots of stuff, now that I think about it.

  5. Are you kidding, Summer -- you think it stops when you get older? I'm collecting Farscape stuff and have it prominently displayed in my office along with the entire series collection and mini-series finale, and now an animation cell from "Revenging Angel," the episode where Crichton slips into a coma resembling a Chuck Jones cartoon. I've got my seasons of 24, Horatio Hornblower, and now Monk. And on the list is the original Battlestar Galactica (and why I'm watching the mini-series right now is beyond me...I'm a glutton for punishment, maybe...).

Then we've got my Macintosh techno-geek toys. The G4 Desktop. The G4 PowerBook. The iPod (2nd gen). The PDA. And now, my most recent addition, all this audio recording equipment rigged to interface with Garageband.

I embrace my geekdom. I make love to it. I bitch-slap it and make it call me "daddy." I don a leather mask and wetsuit, and I...

Sorry...everyone's boffing in the Bonniestar Galactica mini-series...and I'm a little excited...
