I really dislike being called "fake"

I debated whether or not to blog about this. But what the hell.

The post immediately preceding this one shows the vanity license plate I applied for and received on Friday. Mike's already got the "DRGNPAGE" (or something like that) plate, so I thought I'd step up and drop down the twenty-five smackers for the "PODCAST" plate. I've never had a vanity plate before, but it seemed like a cool thing to do- in a very geek sort of way.

Wishing to share my geekness with my fellow podcasters as well as viewers of this blog, I posted a link to the previous post to the Podcasters mailing list I belong to. It's a place where heated arguments pissing contests discussions quickly ignite, so I was all prepared for the "you're such a sell out" type posts. But what I wasn't expecting was to be called a liar and a fake, if in not so many words.

To see the pic of the plate, scroll down a bit. To see my non-family-friendly reply pick to the dickwad that insinuated the above, click the "keep reading" link below...

My original post to the list:

Proving once again that I'm a bigger dork/geek/oddball than anyone else in the state... http://www.dragonpage.com/archives/im_the_coolest_podcaster_ever.html

The link goes to the previous post which features a phonecam shot of my kid holding the license plate up. You can visit the page and actually see his fingers on the edges. No, I'm not that good with Photoshop. Ask anyone.

The results were pretty great. Lots of fellow podcasters with support. You can read the comments on the other post to see for yourself. Additional measures of support were to be had on the Podcasters list. Except for one dickhead person, who had this to say:

If anyone else wants a custom license plate, you can use the Acme
License Plate generator to make one:

To which I can only say, without making assumptions about what must have been a horrible childhood for him or the relative size of his infintesimally small penis:

out in the dark, at least half naked, with something red in his hands - how could anyone believe it is not real? *giggle*

where is the flickr set of the rest`?

  3. evo says:

Glad I could be of assistance, Mur! I'm not nearly as pissed now as I was last night when I read it.

And Nicole, you're luck it was only half naked. :)

On Tuesday, I'll get a pic of my car and Mike's parked together so you can see both plates and how (not) cool we both are!

    very nice evo - truly a pissed off, don't f*ck w/ this uber-geek podcaster stink-eye...

but what is that thing you're doing w/ your finger - could it be proclaiming your standing at podcast alley ;)

the new show format is cool - keep em coming..

  5. Nicole Simon says:

Plesae do get dressed before that *g*

  6. Tee Morris says:

    Actually, score one for Evo...

...and I say have a shot of the car, plate and all, with a full "moon" close by.

What are some people absolute twits?!

P.S. LOVE the vanity plate. Even though I changed my domain name, I _still_ have MOREVI(.com) as mine!

You guys are so lucky to be able to get personalised plates like that!. Here in the UK personalised plates cost ?300 ($560) and anything that could make it harder for the police, or speed cams to read is out. That means no non standard font, no backgrounds not even different coloured buttons that hold them on. Bikers are always getting pulled up on there way to meets for having italic fonts are things. Not worth doing over here as all the cool combination are long gone.
