Wednesday morning, I've just finished the first chapter. I drop the book on the boot of the rental car to take it to the beach with me. Lock the boot. Realize the car keys are in the boot.
So now I'm waiting for the rental agency to open to get the book from the car. I LOVED the first chapter, and I just want to continue reading...
I'll come back to tell you if the rest of the book is as good as the first chapter.
So now I can tell you: I loved the whole book. There is a lot of action in it: you will not get bored. You also have a lot of diferent and interesting characters in the book.
Martris, the protagonist, is really endearing. He doesn't want to be king but knows what his duty is. He has doubts as anyone facing a role for which he is not prepared and that makes him really human. We see him grow through the book and i really like when an author is able to make a character evolve in a story.
I'll be waiting for the second book. I hope will see more of the "bad guys" in it. They are of course present in the summoner but in a very backgroung way. Since Gail does such a great job with the good characters, I'm impatient to see what she does with the bad ones.
