Incredibly saddened by this news. The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills and I am thankful for the impact he had in my life and the countless hours of entertainment his words provided. He leaves behind a legacy that I wish I could emulate, even a fraction of, in my lifetime. A writer whose overall impact on Fantasy I feel will be unrivaled for some time, a true great.
Through his books I came to appreciate the Fantasy genre, he was the spark that began a fire I enjoy to this day. Condolences and best wishes to his family, friends, readers and fans at this time.

I don't know what to say. I have been reading and rereading the Wheel of Time since The Dragon Reborn came out, and have loved his characters and world for half my life now. I hope his family can complete his work in a manner that he would have approved. A great Light has passed. May the Last Embrace of the Mother welcome him home.

very sad news, i had a great deal of respect for him. I brought a grat deal to keeping the conan series and robert howard's works alive. and also his own work is filled with great characters, rich and detailed worlds. he left us and future generations a great legacy.

That is indeed a sad thing to hear. I've actually picked up the first of the series, but haven't had a chance to get into it. I hope that his last book is able to be finished.. it sounds like it'll be a big book.
