Show Notes: Extras and Specials

Michael and Michael continue their discussion on epic fantasy worlds and the series that span any number of novels greater than a trilogy, and the contrast between many shorter novels, or a smaller number of much longer books.

Review: Web Genii gives us a review of The Sharing Knife, Volume 2: Legacy by Lois McMaster Bujold.

Voicemail: Zack comments on author rights and the worlds they leave behind when they pass on; Ben in Tampa Bay with a suggestion for a New Olympian; Darcy’s dad Tim comments on Bookopoly, a literary version of Monopoly; Mark wants to hear more writing tips, and would like to hear more interviews with editors and agents to get some wider perspectives on the world of writing and publishing.

Cover to Cover Special: Listen to an exclusive short story by James Patrick Kelly! “Could Be Worse” is presented here courtesy of Audible, and Jim’s Storypod 3.0. After the story, listen to Jim give a little insight into and background for “Could Be Worse”, and some info on Storypod.

Dragon Page Challenge: We now have a collaborative world-building effort, a web-based writing exercise! Check out The Tick-Tock Hobbit project.

Submitting Listener comments: If you have any suggestions or comments, please let us know! “Cover to Cover” has it’s own call-in line, 206-350-READ! That’s 206-350-7323, or just email Michael with a comment you’ve recorded yourself!

Can you do an audio book review no longer than 3 minutes? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Book title, author, publisher, cost
  • Must have been published within the past calendar year
  • Why did you like the book?
  • What about the book will you remember a year from now?
  • Why do you want to recommend this book to other potential readers?

Don’t forget, you can also comment on books listed in The Library… look through the listings and feel free to post your thoughts and comments there.

Stackpole had the best two reason to date; make a deal with the property’s estate and (my favorite) create something new to fill the void.

  2. Rebecca from Brisbane says on :

Huh. Is it just me or does this show really cut off about 14mins in?
