ed becomes more lame as the years role by…i want one person to dare say this isnt a plot line he wanted to do for drow in Faerun and was probably denied the permission to by wotc.
so alittle name change here and there…viola!
All right, I’ll be that one person. In my (then) capacity as part of the marketing team at a certain publisher, I was present at a Book Expo conversation in which a professional explained how he wanted such a book written, and urged Ed to write it. WotC was not involved, so far as I know. As for becoming more lame with the passing years, don’t we all. Not so Ed’s writing, however. This zips along, delivering exactly what that publishing gentleman ordered. Many who comment on gaming novels seem to forget or never to learn that most are works for hire, under tight editorial control; the main characters, the plot, the style and length may all be their choice, not those of the writer.
