woot! great show! yeps i don’t go for a lot of the teen books, some i’ll try. most times it’s emo stuff, or got sex in it, or talks down to us. and can we PLLLEEEEASE stop with all the vampire and werewolf stuff already??? wow, ever since harry potter we got to have the teen shelves full of this stuff.
and don’t get me started on harry potter and ms. I’ll make dumbledore gay to sell more stuff. (lame. still don’t like she did that.)
We need more books like secret life of bee, If I stay, and Graceling. Books that make us want to read, and think.
We kid’s are a lot smarter than publishers think we are. Summer says I am not a normal teen, yeps maybe so. But there are a lot out here just like me.

I enjoy your show. I have two teenage daughters and have been very involved with their schools as we have gone along.
In listening to your show this last week I had a few thoughts I would like to share with you.
On the issues of cameras in the class room. Part of me feels this would be a good idea and part of me feels it is a bad idea. My daughters attend a performing arts public charter school. This last semester I did not discover that there had been problems in one of my daughters classes until the very end of the semester. Now it is hard to go back and sort out how much of it was the students and how much was the teacher. Everyone seems to agree that the class was out of control, but the why is up in the air.
It was a music class with an odd mix of instruments. The long and short of it is that some of the kids pretty much hijacked the class and spent the semester noodling around on the guitars. My daughter, being an avid reader just pulled out a book and read.
I feel that is not okay to spend a semester just reading, if what you are supposed to be doing is taking a music class. I was curious as to hear some discussion on how much of learning is the students responsibility, and how much is the teachers. Is it okay to let bright student get by with the minimum if they are otherwise well behaved and not causing trouble.?

You present a realistic view of the classroom that is both instructional and highly amusing. I’ve shared your podcast with my fellow classmates and instructors.
