What is a holiday anymore? Is it more than an driving urge to shop? Why are Christmas trappings adorning our stores before Halloween?

I was just writing in to comment on the statement that Halloween is being incroached into the holidays. I can remember when I was a child, we could go to the store almost a month in advance to get costumes or decorations. This year, all I have seen is half an aisle's worth of Halloween decorations/costumes. As for Christmas, yes, the next three aisles were all Christmas. This in Mid-October, all I've seen so far is how everyone just wants to get Halloween out of the way for the rest of the Holiday's. This is very depressing for me since Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year. Thank you for your time.
Mike
